I don't really have any questions yet, but creating the thread in case folks have any advice, criticisms, or just comments on Chance My short-term plan for magic is: Entropy: 3 (I read an interesting article on Entropy/Chaos ( Entropy Article). I liked what it had to say about the correlation between your "rank" and the types of systems you can impact. I'm not sure how much of this is 'canon' and how much is GM/Game interpretation but it helped me figure some things out. Correspondence: 3 I really want to be able to teleport myself if needed Matter: 3 I would like to be able to change objects from one to another and the states That's 14+16+16 (56 XP) right there...I probably won't do them all right away obviously...

I think you're miscalculating the sphere increases. It says Current Ranking x 8 (or 7), not New Ranking. So increasing from 2-3 in any of these should be 16 or 14 points, not 24 or 21.

I skimmed the article and, although it takes liberties, it's pretty accurate. 1 is closed systems, 2 lets you bend semiopen, 3 let's you start creating entropy and so on and so forth.
The only real overlap I see is that Matter 2/3 is good for breaking things, which Entropy 3 is used for a lot. That said, Entropy 3 lets you start breaking systems and Matter 3 lets you create.
