The group had been asked to investigate a series of suspicious suicides. In the process of investigation, they discover three pieces of very bad voodoo, a Marauder distributing said voodoo, and now they're stuck with one of these cursed artifacts in a Dutch oven, inside a ward, in Alex's apartment. They've been told to hole up until morning, when the Avalon Group will be able to figure out a way to retrieve it, and hopefully then send out some more qualified group to deal with the Marauder before the cabal runs into her again.
Sounds like a perfect time time for drinking and truth or dare.

"So! Here's the rules. Pick a target, and they choose truth or dare. Give them their question or dare. If you really really really really don't want to answer the question or try the dare, take a shot. But you have to take a shot for every question or dare you've refused to do. Any questions?"

Alex raises his hand. "No questions, but I have to say, you have the weirdest way of coping with imminent danger."
He looks over to his stove and watches Dr. Stake, happily working away at creating borsch. "Okay, second weirdest."

"Is it really so strange to bond through drinking? Or to avoid thoughts about the demonic instruments in your kitchen?" Venisha asks, rifling through Alexander's cupboards to find shot glasses and any stray bottles of alcohol.
"Oh, I found an onion!" she says, tossing it over to Dr. Stake. "I don't know if it's good, though."

Anya has a strained smile on her face as she says, " I just ran away from a Marauder with my brain only slightly scrambled and I am now spending the night in the same room with a cursed something that probably convinced a man to kill himself through a series of mistakes I am trying very hard to avoid repeating. So." Suddenly sunny again. "Let me have my distractions, okay?"
Raising her voice so she's sure she'll be heard in the kitchen: "One more rule: anyone who is helping cook is exempt from dares, because that just couldn't possibly end well."

Alex shrugs. "The ward will hold. Probably. Gluing the cards together into a house of cards would have worked better for containing it, but it would have made it easier to accidentally end the effect. But with it shielded and you two cleaned up, there's little to track you by, and London is a large city. We're safe. Probably."
He walks into the kitchen, staying clear of the counter with the Dutch oven on it, and picks up a decent-sized cardboard box. "I made a hefty purchase of liquor recently. It was supposed to be for ceremonial purposes, but I think the spirits won't mind sacrificing these spirits."
He happens to glance down, then curses. "Speaking of which, someone take this box. I need to destroy my shoes before we get started."

"What's wrong with your shoes?" Venisha asks. "Anya and I walked where you walked - should we be torching ours, too?"

Alex hops around on one foot, shaking his head at Venisha. "No, no, you guys are fine, I probably am as well, just want to be cautious. "
He finishes taking off his shoes and anyone looking can see the right shoes is missing its lace. "When you notice a strong spirit and it acknowledges you, it can be rude to enter a domain it's inhabiting without leaving some sort of offering. There wasn't any milk or cat food, so I left my shoelace for the cat spirit to play with. Problem is, that's a potential link, and I'd rather not have a giant black cat entropy spirit follow me home, unless he wants to guard my front door."

Anya grabs the box of liquor, takes it to the couch, and starts sorting through it.
eta: "Yes, please, destroy the shoes. I don't want anyone or anything showing up tonight unless they're delivering more food."

Dr. Stake takes the onion and examines it. "Is borscht. Is often made of cabbage and suffering." He then scrubs the onion, and places it in the microwave, his fingers flying over the controls in a way that doesn't say "popcorn." The microwave glows blue momentarily, and when the onion is removed, it looks very fresh. "Like Captain America, only onion. Also not super soldier. But patriotic, yes."
(OOC- I'm guessing a bit of matter and forces could make a feshening / moisturizing field? Not sure of the mechanics, so don't read too much into it if it's not the kind of thing I could normally do.)

(Ooc: I'm kinda working on the idea that the magic we do on the forum vs in game sessions is most comparable to cut scenes vs actual combat in video game RPGs. While it might be similar and true to the character, you can take liberties in cut scenes that you can't in the actual mechanical combat. I'm hoping as long as we don't try to break the game with our magic in the forum, we can be flexible. James, what do you think?)

Chance returns from the bathroom, looking freshly showered, wearing a tight black t-shirt with a VNV Nation logo on it and a pair of black jeans that tighten near the ankles. Completing the outfit is a complex network of leather straps interspaced with silver hoops and latches used as a belt. Since his hair is still wet, it's in more disarray than normal, hanging down over each side of his face, partially blocking his eyes and cheeks. To Alex, he calls out "Thanks Doc, that felt good...I've never met one of those marauders and bugger all I'm not looking forward to another one."
Having heard the part about cooking folks being exempt from dares, Chance looks around the corner into the kitchen and asks in a surprisingly hopeful tone, "You could use some help in there, right?" He ignores the look Anya is sure to have given him at that question as he turns back with a look that's somewhere between defeated and scared..."So...we're doing this, huh?"

Anya did look briefly surprised, but she did at least try to hide it. Try. But after the question Chance directs to her, she practically skips over to Chance and starts messing with his hair. "Yep! But don't worry, there's an out if you don't want to answer any particular challenge - take a shot. Choose your battles though, the penalty for not answering is cumulative."

Alex rummages through a box, then pulls out a knife that's nearly a short sword, curves inward with a handle of ivory, or maybe bone. "I'm reluctant as well, but I want to play nice. I figure Chance and I may be in a race to see who passes out first."
He sits the shoes on a cutting board, then deftly hacks them to pieces. Maneuvering around Dr. Stake and Venisha, he sits the remains in the sink and runs water over them for about a minute. When he finishes, he walks over to a trash can with a biohazard sticker on it and deposits the soggy mess of canvas in the trash.

"One, if you don't like Venisha and my suggestions, I certainly don't hear you coming up with anything else. Two, if you pass out from refusing to participate, I make no promises as to what may or may not be drawn on your face in the morning." Still messing with Chance's hair, it's so soft when it's not all done up!
