"So this discomfort with the touching and the personal space, is that all the time? Or are you able to get over it with the right motivation?" She's definitely flirting.

Chance has been paying attention, though he seems thankful that he was spared a few times already. He does look at Alex a little confused, "Why do you assume I would have an answer to your precious question more strange than Anya's?" He thinks quickly and adds, "Obviously that's not my question for the game."

Alex is very still for a moment, then takes a measured breath. "Some of it's claustrophobia, though I mostly have that under control, barring actual small spaces. I just can't relate to people like I used to, before I awakened. So much happened, so much changed for me, that I lost some of my empathy and put up a lot of guards. You guys are really the first people I've spent more that a few hours with since I came to London two years ago."
He seems to relax a bit, and runs his free hand through his hair. "Try not to surprise me. Ease me into it, don't try to just tackle hug me like you did early on. I feels comfortable after a few moments, and it helps me to remember why I keep doing all the things I do."
He laughs sheepishly. "Oh yes, and I'm American AND a New Yorker. That just makes it harder. Motivation though...well, positive reinforcement is nice."

Anya's smile goes from flirtatious to sympathetic. "If I'd known it would upset you, I wouldn't've done that hug the first time. The rest, I'll remember. Most of the time. Just tell me to shove off if I forget and cross a line." Anya pauses, uncertain if she should say anything else. "It's okay that you're guarded. Everything changed for me when I Awakened, but I think I had more choice in how it changed than you did. And people don't put up walls for no reason. You still deserve nice things and affection, even if it's hard to accept." Anya's eyes flick over to Chance for a half-second before settling back on Alex.

Alex leans forward slightly and sighs. "Thanks. Don't get me wrong, the existential crisis of discovering that almost everything you know is wrong is unnerving and ongoing, but there's a lot of good in there. My life was pretty good but..mistakes were made, and even right decisions can have unforeseen consequences. Still, a few months of hell doesn't mean anything compared to what some people go through, and they don't even get to Awaken."
He turns slightly to face Chance. "I'll give you the freebie; I thought you'd have a better story because you seem like the type of person that likes to collect good stories. You also likely, given your style, have less hangups then any one of us. But now it's my turn again. So Chance, truth or dare?"

Chance listens to Alex's explanation quietly, and when it's done, he just nods. "Good to know, Doc...." His lips part slightly as a smile makes an appearance, ..."and for the record I wasn't saying you were wrong." Chance settles in to give the question some thought, "Everyone's been sharing, so it's my turn I suppose. Dare." The stare he gives Alex is almost challenging him, both to come up with the first dare but almost to come up with something the musician might not want to do.

Alex leans back and stares up at the ceiling. "I am limited by the fact that we really shouldn't leave the apartment alone...oh wait, give me a few minutes to set this up."
Alex rummages through a box until he finds a laptop and a small Bluetooth speaker. He then takes a minute, searching around online, downloading something from Amazon. He copies some text from a website into a document file, then makes it a little easier to read.
He spins the laptop around and the mirth on his face is evident. "Would be better if you had an instrument to play along with, but when you're ready, press play and sing along with this."
The words to Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky Heart" are on the screen.

Chance looks on curiously as Alex prepares the computer, one eyebrow lifted in Anya's direction as if this is something she had a part in. When the screen is turned towards him, he looks at it, looks at Alex and then back at the screen. There's a quiet moment as he looks over the lyrics frozen on the first screen...
"Bugger 'n blast, what's this?" The look of distaste on is face is akin to someone who has eaten a spoonful of spoiled milk. "This is music?" he asks looking up sharply at Alex then at Anya as if the two were in cahoots. The musician takes a deep breath and sighs, shaking his head. "It's too early to pass and drink..." Just as he's about to start, he looks at Anya "No filming this either! It'd be ashame if your phone...exploded." Whether he could do that or not is left unspoken as he turns to the screen and begins to type on the keyboard.
Chance's expression changes to match that of a child who just found out his parents were going out of to for the weekend and he was planning a party. "There, now I can sing it." It's unclear what he did but as he presses play, it becomes evident. The sound that comes out has only passing resemblance to the country song...the underlying beat is there but it's an octave lower and has a reverberation added to it. There's an almost haunting ethereal sound that precedes Chance's singing...
"You can tell the world you never was my girl You can burn my clothes up when I'm gone You can tell your friends just what a fool I've been And laugh and joke about me on the phone..."
Each line is sung quite well but he accentuates the lyrics and it sounds somewhat industrial and hard pounding. He keeps on singing the next verse, grinning at the Doctor and Anya.

Anya mouths "Cheater!" at Chance as he starts to sing, but doesn't doesn't interfere with his performance. She closes her eyes and sways her head a little, listening intently and trying to sort out choreography to this entirely original arrangement.

Alex eyes drift to the side and he tilts his head slightly while listening, like he's searching for something specific. He shakes his head a few moments after Chance finishes. "Might need to stop by one of your shows sometime, if you can make crap like that sound decent. Alright, who's next?"

Chance finishes singing the song in the same style as he started, keeping it a dark almost industrial style and making it sound good. When he's done, he nods his head appreciatively at Alex, "Thanks, Doc. you're welcome to come anytime. Anya can tell you what it's like."
Taking a moment to catch his breath, he casts a glance to Anya, "Technically not cheating by the way...Doc never said *how* I needed to sing it." With his smug smile still showing, he then asks Anya, "Truth or dare?"
(OOC: I would pick Venisha but I'm not sure if she'd see it this weekend)

Grinning happily at Chance, "It just means making requests in the future more specific to prevent that kind of workaround. Not that I would want to change anything in that dare, that was gorgeous."
Anya looks Chance up and down in mock challenge. "Your pick. Do your worst."
