Chance listens to Anya's answer and since she's already close by, it's not *that* big of an effort to reach a hand down and rests it on her shoulder. There's a small comforting squeeze as he jokingly says, "Don't change for anyone. You're fine as you are...a goofy, happy, selfish dancer!"

Anya puts her left hand on Chance's and tilts her head to lean on him more as she smiles contentedly.

Dr. Stake notices this, smiles slightly and takes a drink.

"SO! What questions are having for me!?"

Seeing that Alex is still deep in thought, Anya, not moving from her spot, points a finger at Dr. Stake and says, "If you're from the West End, why do you have that accent?"
(Ooc: John and Travis have a game that lasts until about 10:30, but I'll be around.)

"Pfft. Is easy." Dr Stake slips seamlessly to an East End Cockney accent. "See, Doll, there's no respect showin' where yer from. Too many Skaggs with the 'Cor's' and "what have you Chuck?' Fer me. But me Ma and Da, they's from Chernobyl. Scampered during the big meltdown. People listened to 'em. Maybe a bit afeared of 'em. So's I thinks afeared is OK? Confused is OK. So's I listened and listened good. Found out on the streets that the other kids was nervous of me. Thought I was some kind of radioactive freak. That worked for me. I wasn't so good at the fighting, and roughhousing, but the more Russian I was the more distance they kept from me." Here he switches back to a more familiar accent, "Has worked out good, da? Now ask something hard."

Anya's jaw drops and she just stares at Stake.

Anya eventually collects herself, more or less, and says despairingly, "I don't even know what to ask! I felt like I understood you the least of anyone here and now even that was completely wrong. Um. Um. Are your parents still around?"

Dr. Stake looks down and pauses. In his native Lonon accent he says, "Cancer got 'em, a few years back." He take another drink breathes once, and in his Russian accent says, "Such is life. Back home would have been faster, but worse." He smiles briefly, winks and says "and now you understand borscht."

"I take it none of us had completely normal happy-go-lucky childhoods, huh?"

Quietly: "I'm sorry. Cancer is a terrible way to go."
To Venisha: "I didn't. Well, the beginning was okay."

Dr Stake looks at Anya sympathetically. "Is sounding like truth to be told. Glass passes to you, Anya."

Anya looks like she wishes she hadn't opened her mouth. "I thought it was ask Dr. Stake questions time? Do you want to be called Dr. Stake or what? I hadn't asked you before and now that seems rude." She's clearly trying to change the topic.

"DS or Balak is fine. Is OK. Ask again, but be knowink questions cannot be voided forever. Is like great Russian epic, Cinderllea. Sooner or later heels and toes choppred off, so someome had to be fitting shoe. By the way, in front of interns is ALWAYS Dr Stake." He glares significantly.

Anya looks relieved before bouncing back to chirpy. "Got it, got it, full formality in front of the interns. As for the question - it wasn't in the proper truth or dare form, so I'm within my rights to ignore it. But - anyone else have questions? Is Alex still on his own planet?"
