Alex perks up and looks between Chance and Venisha with great interest. "Oh, that's a good question. I'm always curious about what people might want and what they're willing to sacrifice for it."

Chance is about to respond to Venisha when Alex perks up, and his attention turns first towards him. "Well life's already served me up a heaping pile of dog's dinner as it is, so I'm not sure I'm willing to sacrifice anything else."
As Chance turns to Venisha, he leans forward so elbows can rest on his knees, arms upraised with fingers interlocked and providing a shelf to rest his chin. "I'm still learning what's possible to be honest...and I'm pretty good with the stuff I can do." His voice trails off as he seems to consider how much to offer up to these folks who were strangers only a few weeks ago, and after a score of seconds, just when it seems he is done, he continues with a hesitant quality to his words. "It would have been nice to have them earlier...maybe I could have saved my parents...I could have seen the connection of events that lead to their death...or maybe even changed them..." His voice trails off again and opens his eyes, though he doesn't remember at what point he even closed them. A stoic expression slowly replaces the sad look on his face and with a shake of his his head that sends damp strands of hair flying, he finishes with a bit of his usual attitude. "Since life's done nothing but give me shite and those in power only care about the posh, I get by making my own luck. So yeah, it would be cool to have a bit of mind reading or turning invisible, but I make do and push the boundaries until I bust through."
Settling back into the chair more traditionally, he shrugs, "Probably more than you wanted to hear, I bet. Pity about your family though...I kinda know how it goes. Not all the Fagans are like us, so there's some secrets there." And almost as a parting shot, he pushes a smile to the forefront, "Hope that doesn't mean you won't be introducing me to Ranjit!"
Just as quickly, he turns back to Alex, "Looks like turnabout, Doc. Truth or Dare?"

"I'm sorry to hear about your family," Venisha says softly. She feels a little guilty for having pulled that out of him, but then remembers that the question could've been answered without volunteering that much - which makes her feel a touch better.

Anya stays quiet and almost impassive during Chance's answer, trying not to let whatever she's feeling show up on her face for once. She casually stands up and moves to sit on the floor near Chance's chair. Not so close as to touch, but close enough that's it's obvious she's moving to be near him. Equally casually, she says, "I'd actually be curious to hear everyone else's answer to that question. I'll take a couple of penalty shots if needed for breaking the flow of the game."

Chance doesn't pull away as Anya plants herself near his chair (He took a chair mind you so that he wouldn't have to share the couch). After a few seconds, his left leg slides slightly over to rest against Anya's side, though there's no outward acknowledgement of it. His devil-may-care tone returns as he glances towards the dancer, "Hey, did you drink when you failed my dare?" The grin on his face is priceless and he even makes a hand motion that would signify drinking a shot.

Anya doesn't acknowledge Chance's shift in position, but she does turn to look at him in outrage at his question. "Shots are only for when you refuse to do something! I tried my best!"
(Ooc: I thought I remembered chair but then I thought I read couch. Whatever. ill fix it, but the movement is the same.)

Alex grunts. "More than fair, I'd wager."
Alex looks into his mug for a moment, the gets up. He refills his cup, pouring exceptionally slow as he does, then mixing a small amount of sugar in as he walks back over and sits down. He stares into his drink, then speaks without looking up. "It's only fair, I suppose. Truth."

Alex quickly responds to Anya's question, perhaps to divert his attention. "I wish I was more skilled at healing, but that's the physicians curse. Perhaps I'll study the primal arts next, or maybe mind...".
He frowns. " No, too much temptation there. I think I'll let fate decide for me. I wish I could divest myself from the spirits, but that's like telling the sky to stop being blue."

"I like what I'm able to do, but sometimes I wish I could make things," Venisha offers. "I don't know what I'd do with that kind of power," she adds, pausing to cast a worried glance toward the kitchen, where noises she wouldn't associate with cooking borscht are increasing at an alarming rate. "But I think it would be fascinating."
(OOC: oof, sorry, posted at the same time. Assume that this was said prior to Chance's new question.)

Chance looks at Anya and makes a "hrrmmm" noise, followed by "I think you're making up rules that fit your circumstances...I approve."
Then when Alex comes back into the room, Chance turns to him and almost without missing a beat asks very bluntly, "Has anyone died on your watch, Doc?"

(OOC - Sorry, busy weekend)
Dr. Stake sits down, lab-coat slightly stained with beet juice, takes a drink and smiles.
"Had idea for better blender, plus roasting flavor all the way through. I figure gentleman needs really good borscht for lending us the oven. Hard to recreate the flavor in other stew pot, but I am thinking will be OK."

Anya laughs at Chance's approval and settles back down to face the group, but now leaning a bit on Chance's leg. "Welcome back, Doc. There's a standing question of what magic would you like to gain if you could, but Chance just asked Alex a question, so I'd wait for that first." She pulls a lock of hair in front if her eyes and starts braiding it.
(Ooc: missed you, but real life comes first always.)

Alex has some sort of look on his face that is totally inscrutable. He's obviously thinking, but it's impossible to tell what he's feeling. He tilts his head slightly and taps his chin, never taking his eyes off Chance, giving the impression that he's trying to make up his mind, or possibly that he's weighting options. "I would very much like to hear Dr. Stake and Anya's answers first, if they'll have it."

"What magic would I gain if I could? Heh, is probably good for others that I cannot impose my will on them. Bluffing and smashing is one thing. To change minds at will, is something that could be very useful. But sometimes I lack impulse control, so am thinking is better for everyone - myself included - that I only make things."
"Though, growing extra limbs for making more things would be nice too."

"Healing." Anya continues braiding her hair, looking only at it. "It'd be useful for all the damage I manage to do to myself during practice. And." Her hand movement slows as she considered saying more, but decides against it. "I won't, though. The cost would be too high." Dreamily. "If I could, I don't think I'd be me anymore. I'd have to be some other person, maybe one who took herself seriously. Maybe someone who'd sacrifice herself to keep someone else alive. Someone angry and sad and who is too busy to dance." Anya smiles to herself. "I like being me."
